Memory work for Grades 5 & 6   Due  May 1, 2024

Hebrews 7  Such a high priest meets our need. He sacrificed for their sins once for all when he offered himself.

Key Terms:  You don’t need to memorize the exact wording of a key term, but know what each term means:

Prophet Preached God's Word.  Jesus as prophet preached and gives us pastors & teachers

High Priest = Prayed to God for the people; Sacrificed for sins.  Jesus sacrificed himself

Jesus intercedes for us in prayer.

King = in Old Testament the King ruled and protected the people.  Jesus rules in our hearts.

8th Grade

Memory work for May 1, 2024:

Second: How does a Christian congregation use the Keys?

A Christian congregation with its called pastor uses the Keys in accordance with Christ's command, by forgiving those who repent of their sin and are willing to amend, and by excluding from the congregation those who are plainly impenitent that they may repent.

KEY TERMS

Office of Public Ministry:  God ordained having pastors, so He wants us to have pastors.

Divine Call: a) The Holy Spirit leads a congregation to choose its pastor.  (Divine means it is “of God”)

                         b) Although women have equal value as men, and there are women with ability, God says He wants only men to be pastors.

CONFESS: to sadly admit our sins and that we deserve punishment

CONFESSION'S 2 PARTS:  1) we confess our sins   [true sorrow]       2) we receive forgiveness! [real comfort]

CONFESS WHAT SINS?:    before God --ALL sins, even what we're unaware of

before pastor --only what bothers us; he's there to help & assure us.

ABSOLUTION: a Pastor forgives sins (loosing key) on behalf of the congregation.

CONFIDENTIAL: no one else learns what is privately confessed to the pastor.
